What we do

Where care and caring come together

Asquith Hall is run by highly qualified mental health and complex care professionals who provide holistic care to people living with mental health issuescomplex needs with behaviours that may challenge, dementia, and physical needs.

We believe in focusing on what individuals can do instead of what they can’t and celebrating life to the fullest. This philosophy makes Asquith Hall a flourishing, welcoming and happy community.

Who we support

Our residential nursing home provides high-quality care for older and working-aged adults living with mental health issues, complex care needs, challenging behaviours and physical/sensory disabilities.

These needs may be caused by a number of conditions, including:

  • Dementia, with associated health and personal care needs
  • Mental health conditions such as bipolar disorder and schizophrenia
  • Neurodegenerative conditions, such as Korsakoff’s Syndrome, Lewy-body, developmental disabilities or brain injury
  • Psychological conditions such as anxiety, depression, confusion, memory loss and hallucinations that may cause difficult behaviours

Tailored care plans

Asquith Hall belongs to the Towerview Care Group of high-quality nursing and dementia care homes, with a mission to carry out person-centred, individualised care plans focusing on dignity and respect.

Our team will take time getting to know your or your loved one’s needs, tastes, likes, dislikes, family and personality to propose an in-depth, personalised and risk-assessed care plan before the moving in date. This will set out what level of care is needed and is agreed by you or your loved one before being put into action.

Our tailored care plans can include information such as referring to you or your loved one by a specific name, as well as preferred routines like waking up at a certain time. No matter how big or small, every detail helps our professional teams make you or your loved one feel welcome.

Life stories

Life stories are a helpful resource to assist us with delivering person-centred care, especially for those living with dementia. We strive to understand the personal background of those we look after: their background, past, achievements and meaningful milestones in their life.

Our team enjoy hearing life stories and anecdotes and find this helpful when developing a bond and rapport with the people they care for. It also provides an opportunity to understand the root of certain behaviours.

Our psychologist works closely with our ladies and gentlemen, their families and other professionals to explore ways of sustaining relationships and communication when faced with challenging or aggressive behaviour. Knowing an individual’s life story can be a conversation starter or trigger memories, helping them to feel included and valued at Asquith Hall. This can improve self-esteem and, in some cases, restore identity.

Feedback taken seriously

At Asquith Hall we have a policy of openness and respect which sits at the heart of everything we do. We welcome all comments and take them seriously – using them to monitor and improve our standards. We ask and encourage everyone we care for, plus their friends and family members, to provide suggestions, compliments, concerns or complaints at any time.

Responsible for your happiness

We recognise we are responsible for the happiness of those we care for at Asquith Hall. We create a caring environment 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our care values include:

Holistic – Our care professionals tend to the whole person and their unique needs. Our care teams include psychologists, dieticians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, reflexologists, speech and language therapists and we work in collaboration with community mental health teams, fall prevention nurses, local GPs, community psychiatrists and partnered community professionals.

Safety – All our staff are DBS checked and follow rigorous health and safety policies and practices, which are monitored on a regular basis to ensure safety in our home.

Personability – We encourage all our ladies and gentlemen to make our home their home, and encourage them to decorate their rooms with personal belongings. We also create personalised transition plans from home to home, to suit individuals and their loved ones. Family and friends are welcome to visit and spend time with their loved ones at Asquith Hall.

Community – We believe a friendly community creates the foundation of a happy home. Therefore, we encourage and assist our ladies and gentlemen to socialise at mealtimes, enjoy events, visit local amenities on organised trips and relax in each other’s company.

Independence – We focus on developing a person’s skills and abilities, instead of their diagnosis and restrictions. We do as much as we can to maintain the independence for our ladies and gentlemen, through the delivery of personalised care, for as long as possible.

Quality – Our Registered Manager and Matron ensure we deliver consistent and excellent care, and this is supported by our thorough recruitment and training process. We listen to and act upon feedback so we can continously improve and develop best practices in care.

Dignity – Maintaining the dignity of our ladies and gentlemen throughout all stages of their care is the driving force behind our team. We create detailed, personalised care plans and deliver quality end-of-life care, ensuring we involve the individual and their loved ones every step of the way.
